Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions I get about therapy. If you cannot find an answer to your question here, please don't hesitate to contact me directly.

  • Yes, I offer online therapy for clients who are unable to come to the office or prefer the convenience of virtual sessions.

  • Yes! I see clients from diverse identities and genders.

I advertise my work with women because as Johanna Hedva beautifully stated, “Though the identity of “woman” has erased and excluded many (especially women of color and trans/nonbinary/genderfluid people), I choose to use it because it still represents the un-cared-for, the secondary, the oppressed, the non-, the un-, the less-than.”

If you connect with my work and writing please feel free to contact me. I would love to hear from you.

  • Before your therapy sessions, it can be helpful to think about what you want to discuss but it’s not necessary.

It's most important that you have a quiet, private space with good internet service if you’re attending session online.

You might want to take some time to breathe before, eat a snack, or bring a beverage to drink. Find a place that you’ll be uninterrupted for an hour and where your body can be as comfortable as possible.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
